CG Animators to Compete at SIGGRAPH 2007
15 competing teams, 32 hours...
That's right, this year's Siggraph unleashes a new event for everyone to watch and enjoy as 15 teams fight to create the world finest character driven animation in front of a live audience.
Sounds pretty awesome! I hope I get to go to Siggraph this year to check it out. I would stay the entire 32 hours to watch these guys go at it!
Not to mention, there's going to be belly dancers! And you can't go wrong with belly dancers!

Hah! These guys talk like a 32 hour stint of animating is a challenge... I would totally do this competition.
Ha!
Maybe we should look into have a flash 32 hour competition...
Invite all of the big studios in, and show'em how it's done!
hahaha
AWESOME! I gotta work on this idea some more!
Like a 24 hour comic! Only... Longer... and with moving bits.
That competition would be super interesting to see. As you must know, time constraint = special effects constraint = rendering constraint. I would sure like to see how they manage all those constraint. Also, I sure hope that they publish the results or the Theme of the competition.
ADAPT should look into this and have a similar one in September. Like the Canadian Skills Competition, one for 3D and one for 2D. Those competition are always nice to see. But, often it is not the best people who wins, it is the people who can manage time, quality, effects and stick to the storyboard... very well.
Note: my gmail account is a joint account with my wife so it should say Gilles said!!
